Back Pack Drama

My 16 month old has short gut syndrome, meaning that he was born without a lot of his intestines. Consequently he has a g-tube that goes straight into his stomach to feed him formula at a continuous rate throughout the day. His intestines tolerate that better than him having a bottle every 3 hours. His body will just take about a year or two to adjust.Baby Clothing: Baby Boy Clothing: Dinosaur backpack: Toddler 1-5 yrs Accessories | Gap

This is the back pack that we got for our son. It has padded straps and is just his size!

Anyhow, he is becoming more mobile and his g-tube is connected to a tube that holds his milk to a bag of it to a pump. We put all of his things (pump, milk bag) in a mini back pack and then usually move it around when he does so that the tube doesn’t get pulled too hard. But lately he is moving so much that I have been making him wear the backpack. He gets sad sometimes wearing it but he is mostly playing and happy.

Some people think that I am mean by making him wear the back pack but comes with what he has. I can’t chase him around all day long! If he was miserable all day long or couldn’t move how he usually did then I wouldn’t make him wear it obviously. For him wearing a back pack is going to have to be his lifestyle for a while. Hey it gives him a lot move freedom instead of trying to drag a rope behind him.
